Actuarial Senior Manager, Actuarial Systems & Modelling Oversight

We are seeking a talented and driven individual to join our MBPS Actuarial Function as an Actuarial Senior Manager, Actuarial Systems & Modelling Oversight. This role will be a change champion to embrace new and more efficient ways of working in the global actuarial function, with a particular focus on improving efficiency and best practices in the Actuarial Compute Environment (ACE) and our global actuarial modelling community.

Job Description

The Actuarial Senior Manager, Actuarial Systems & Modelling Oversight will provide oversight and guidance to colleagues globally, influencing and collaborating with other Group Functions areas as well as with various Manulife / John Hancock business units. The role will also involve:

  • Liaising between segment actuarial teams and Group Function Technology to execute on initiatives related to ACE; with accountability for ACE cost monitoring and cost containment.
  • Partnering with the Central Modeling Team and segment Actuarial Teams to problem solve and research, develop and implement new solutions to support the global actuarial community.
  • Working with actuarial modelers, while respecting business deliverables, needs, and prioritizations, to implement automations and improvements to drive the efficient use of ACE.
  • Providing expert guidance and direction to help resolve issues and challenges.
Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • FSA with 8+ years of experience
  • Proven expertise in AXIS modeling
  • Excellent communication skills to present complex ideas in a clear, concise way to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to build relationships across the Company
  • Qlikview experience an asset, as is familiarity with related technologies and strong willingness and capability to learn
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as ability to process large amounts of information and summarize effectively
  • Proven track record of identifying opportunities to make change, understand how stakeholders respond to change, ability to embrace and drive changes.
  • Strong professional judgment, ability to assess risks, as well as to effectively identify opportunities for improved efficiency
