A Role as Product Owner in IT

A Product Owner in IT brings together a solid foundation in technology and a deep understanding of a specific business domain. The primary responsibilities of a Product Owner include shaping the product vision, setting the roadmap, managing the backlog, and handling stakeholders.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Ensure alignment with ING global standards, regulatory mandates, and risk protocols
  • Potentially oversee Feature Engineers
Core Responsibilities
  • Delivery
    • Define and communicate a clear vision and strategy for delivery teams
    • Maximize product value by meticulously managing and prioritizing the Product Backlog
    • Resolve hurdles during product development
    • Active involvement in defining Epics, Features, User Stories, and Tasks
    • Collaborate closely on Backlog management with business and IT stakeholders, adapting swiftly to obstacles
    • Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders to establish feasible delivery and support goals
    • Ensure all requirements, both functional and non-functional, are clearly outlined and met
    • Develop and execute risk mitigation strategies
    • Guarantee compliance with regulatory standards
    • Represent the end-customer perspective to delivery teams, prioritizing customer experience and compliance
  • Practice & Craftsmanship
    • Ensure coherence with other squads and requirements within and beyond the domain
    • Support the IT Area Lead and Squad Lead in monitoring squad quality and performance
  • Capability Development
    • Promote a customer-centric approach among IT engineers
    • Offer guidance, mentorship, and training to feature engineers and analysts
  • Other
    • Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation efforts as necessary
    • Engage in audits and oversee the adoption of recommendations
