RMC Engineer

The role of the RMC engineer is to provide customers with technical and operations-related support related to performance, operation, and maintenance of thermal power plant equipment including boiler/HRSG, gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, balance of plant, and auxiliary systems. The Remote Monitoring Center operates on a standard daytime shift with additional shifts to be added as dictated by customer demand. The RMC engineers are required to work scheduled shifts to assure continuous operation and service.

1. Marketing & Sales

• Generate reports and conduct presentations for Remote Monitoring Service to clients on-site/online.

• Assist in presenting detailed customer-oriented information on the functions of the RMC and related software capabilities

• Prepare technical presentation on RMC capability for demonstration during client visits to Global Service Center

2. Engineering support

• Coordinate with Japan-based engineering team on development of remote monitoring menu for conventional thermal power plants

• Proactively monitor remote site operations and provide analysis of equipment operation during scheduled shift

• Communicate technical information to Global Service Center customers for the purpose of equipment reliability

• Review customer data and provide recommendations for improvement on all policies, procedures, operations, and technical issues

• Provide root-cause analysis and operations reports to engineering department and clients upon request

3. Service Support

• Support RMC Engineering in all areas of RMC operations

• Coordinate with other RMC locations in Japan / USA as required for service support and issue resolution

• Record daily activities and outline deficiencies using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools

• Support daily meetings by providing summary of previous day's activity to inform the service organization of unit issues

• Report activities and feedback any claim or suggest by customer to superior.

• Action for any assignments by superior, which includes trainings and seminars given by GSC to prospective customers.

Education level and/or relevant experience(s)

Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control EngineeringRegistered Mechanical Engineer or Registered Electrical Engineer is preferredGreater than 3 year relevant working experience in operation,maintenance, or commisioning speciafically in Gas Turbine Combine Cycle Plant (GTCC). Knowledge and skills (general and technical)Knowledge of power plant control and instrumentationFamiliarity with power plant operations and key metricsCan interpret and apply technical drawings, procedures, and other relevant documentation to resolve operational / reliability issuesAbility to identify customer's needs and issues requiring resolutionExcellent command of spoken and written English Japanese language proficiency (N5 or higher) is desirableKnowledge of Quality Management (SHEQ – Safety, Health, Environment and Quality)Knowledge of local laws and regulationsKnowledge of interconnection and grid code is desirable Other requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training, physical or mental abilities required)Outgoing and positive personalityEffective and clear communicatorAnalytical and problem-solving skillOrganized and attention to detailOwn vehicle with valid driving licenseMay be required to travel on occasion for site visit / surveyKnowledge of new control software and technologyKnowledge of plant asset management software a plusMaintain level of market, technical and industry knowledge through trainingProficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and the Internet (PI and Smart Signal experience is a plus)Candidate should be proficient with manipulation of large data sets for analysis in MS Excel
