The Teacher develops authentic play-based early childhood education programs using developmentally appropriate practices and creates an environment that is fun, challenging, safe, and nurturing for young children, toddlers, and infants. The Teacher ensures that all children under his/her care have the opportunity to develop in all domains (social, emotional, cognitive, and physical) to help them become prepared for life. The Teacher leads the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of early childhood eduction and care programs. S/he works closely with the Center Director.

Program Development and Teaching

Develops child-led, play-based early childhood education and care programs that are developmentally appropriate for children 0-4 y.o.Designs, plans, and organizes the environment (space and routine) in such a way that promotes curiosity, confidence, compassion, problem-solving, critical thinking, and independence, among others that are appropriate to the development stage of the children Ensures a supportive environment in which children can safely play, explore, and practice appropriate individual and group behaviorsDocumentation and AssessmentObserves and documents children's activities, behaviors, learning styles, and preferences, among others to identify child's current competencies and where the child may need support Writes narrative reports of each child's development as parents' referenceFamily EngagementMaintains open and cooperative communication with parents, families, and the community and encourages the community's involvement in the program and supporting the child's family relationshipsHolds regular parent-teacher chats so that both the center and home are consistently supporting the childPlans, develops, and implements all of the center's special eventsTeam ManagementEnsures that the Asst. Teacher and/or Caregiver in his/her team is performing according to the center's standards, philosophy, principles, policies, and systems when in classSupports Asst. Teacher and/or Caregiver by providing timely feedback and/or guidance to help them better respond to children's needsAdministrativePerforms administrative tasks like organizing class records, checking supplies inventory, among others
