DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares samples and performs physico-chemical analyses of submitted samples (raw materials, finished products, water, environmental samples, in-line and shelf-life samples). Performs analysis of %Free Fatty Acids of Used oil/In-line oil samples. Prepares Certificate of Analysis for third party finished products. Coordinate with Microbiologist for Microbiological results (as needed). Performs standardization of all chemical reagent stocks such as 0.1N & 0.25N NaOH, 0.1N HCl and 0.1N Silver Nitrate, 0.1N & 0.01N Sodium Thiosulfate, and others.Reports noted deviations in Physico-chemical analyses.Performs required verification of equipment used in physico-chemical analyses, i.e., analytical and top loading balances, pH meter, conductivity meter, turbidimeter, salt meter, colorimeter and refractometer.Conducts Quality Control using Internal Reference Materials or Certified Reference Materials and participates in validation for the establishment of Internal Reference Materials.Computes and interprets recorded physico-chemical analyses results and records results in the physico-chemical analysis logbook. Ensure updated Measurement uncertainty for Physico-chemical analysis of %Fat, %Moisture, %Free Fatty Acids, %Salt (using Volhard and Mohr methods), pH and %Titratable Acidity.Evaluate temperature readings of the data loggers in refrigerators and chillers.Evaluates integrity of samples submitted by QA and R&D (a.m. and p.m.) following the procedure in Receiving of Samples. Monitors and records environmental conditions at the Physico-chemical Analysis Area and Weighing room, i.e., humidity, temperature (a.m. and p.m.).Monitor and records temperature and other parameters needed in equipment used in Physico-chemical analyses which includes the colorimeter, water bath, ovens and fat extraction apparatus.Monitors and records daily usages/inventory of laboratory supplies/ materials used in physico-chemical analyses (e.g. pH buffers, storage solutions, sea sand, filter papers, etc.).
