Role Overview and Objectives

The accountant will monitor, prepare, and maintain financial information and reporting in accordance with best practices. The accountant is responsible for supporting senior accountants and members of the shared service team with accounting duties including monitoring transactions, resolving queries, and assisting with analysis.

The accountant is responsible for (but not limited to):

Processing

  • Assisting in the generation of general ledger transactions and subsequent related adjustments
  • Ensuring the correct coding of payroll transactions
  • Communicating and collaborating with various stakeholders
  • Preparing and entering manual journals into the general ledger where required
  • Managing the end-to-end novated lease process
  • Following up on queries
  • Managing the assigned staff costs mailboxes
  • Resolving issues

Balance Sheet Reconciliations and analysis

  • Preparing the monthly staff costs related balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Month-on-month profit and loss and balance sheet analysis of staff costs-related accounts.

Financial Support

  • Other support to the wider finance team as required.
  • Any Ad hoc duties as specified by the Manager – Financial Control and Accounting

KPI's

  • Ensure all KPI's set are met within timeframes set.

Knowledge

  • Detailed knowledge of general accounting systems, processes, and practices.
  • Strong technical accounting ability.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle or a similar-sized ERP system.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of general accounting or audit experience.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders through challenging situations.
  • Previous involvement in the implementation of a new accounting system or management and evolution of an existing system
  • Experience working either within Datacom or for a similar-sized organization.

Skills

  • Expertise in MS Excel and the ability to create models and reports using Pivot Table is a MUST
  • Previous exposure to payroll-related accounting is quite critical.
  • AU or NZ Payroll Accounting experience is a MUST
  • Experience with AU and/or NZ payroll experience or knowledge and a good understanding of NZ/AU payroll-related tax rules (i.e. accounting of salaries, superannuation, PAYE/G, payroll tax, etc.).
  • Ability to deliver accurate and timely financial outputs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with people at any level in the organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Passion for process improvement and simplification
  • Strong system skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and enterprise resource planning software (ERP).

Certification

  • Certified Public Accountant is highly desirable
