IT Design Engineering Applications Manager

Architects (Information & Communication Technology)

As the IT Design Engineering Applications Manager, you will play a critical role in building and leading a team to oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT applications that support technical engineering processes within the organization. This role will work collaboratively with our global digital and IT colleagues, driving efficiency in how we deliver exceptional outcomes for the business. This will include leading the transition of key services into our IT support.

Here are the key things you will do to 'bring ideas to life'.

  • Building and lead a high-performing team of IT professionals, including developers, analysts, and support staff, to support technical engineering technologies.
  • Application Development and Management: Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of our technical engineering applications. Provide technical guidance and expertise to the development Team. Ensure that technical standards and best practices are followed.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including digital, our engineering teams and clients, to understand their technology needs and ensure that IT solutions meet their requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of IT technical engineering applications This includes the transition of existing / new products and services to the team.
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to our IT technical engineering applications. Identify and mitigate risks.
  • Contribute to our technology strategy and ensure that the delivery of your team aligns with both our tactical and strategic goals.
  • Awareness and Focus Uplift: Work with our Service Operations Manager to improve first-level support capability for our technical engineering applications, strengthening our customer-centric mindset and responsiveness to the business. Ensure that our priorities and activities are effectively communicated across the AGSS IT leadership to uplift awareness and buy-in to how they contribute to a holistic service in this area

You will also need the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP) are a plus.
  • At least 10 years' experience in commercial Information Technology covering business requirements, project management or consultancy.
  • Appreciates the relationship between the IT and business strategies.
  • Understands the organisation's objectives and aligns operational activities accordingly
  • Able to motivate and manage staff through appraisal, coaching and performance management
  • Proven experience in establishing and managing IT applications development and support.
  • Specialist experience in technical applications supporting the design / construction sector is essential. Prior experience in Autodesk & Bentley applications will be key for the role.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of leading high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, trends, and performance metrics to drive informed decision-making.
  • The ability to gather relevant information, notice relationships between different pieces of information, reason from cause to effect and generate effective solutions to practical problems
