Job Description:

As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for managing patient billing processes, submitting insurance claims, and ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for medical services. You will work closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues and maintain accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and third-party payers.
  • Review and process patient bills, ensuring proper coding and adherence to billing guidelines.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, addressing discrepancies and resubmitting claims as necessary.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, obtaining necessary authorizations and referrals.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify billing and coding issues.
  • Maintain accurate patient billing records, updating information as necessary.
  • Resolve billing inquiries and disputes from patients and insurance companies.
  • Stay current with changes in billing regulations and industry best practices.
  • Generate and analyze billing reports to track and manage accounts receivable.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Medical Biller or similar role in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of medical billing and coding procedures (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards, including HIPAA.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
