THE OPPORTUNITY

Plan International Pilipinas, with the support of the Zurich Foundation, has initiated the "Alliance for Resilience to Climate-related Climate Hazards" project. Expanding on existing Flood Resilience efforts, this project focuses on enhancing climate change adaptation strategies to empower communities in combating climate impacts.

As part of this project, we are seeking skilled and dedicated professionals to take on the following role:

The Project Officer will collaborate with children, youth, and the community at large to prepare them for disasters. Responsibilities include instructing them on assessing their situations, planning and executing activities, monitoring progress, and evaluating outcomes. The Project Officer will also emphasize creating a safe and respectful environment for all involved, ensuring that the project benefits the entire community.

Moreover, as the Project Officer:

  • You will create and oversee the implementation of impactful development initiatives using participatory methods to empower communities.
  • You will be instrumental in collecting and updating baseline data for community profiles, ensuring transparent communication of this data within the community.
  • You will facilitate pre-implementation meetings with various stakeholders to define roles, commitments, and action plans.
  • You will systematically document community projects, activities, and processes to monitor progress and share insights.
  • You will be enthusiastic about enhancing the capabilities of local partners, including children, in project management and fundraising.
  • Prepared to Respond: As part of Plan International Pilipinas' mission, you may be called upon to support emergency response efforts in your designated communities during exceptional circumstances.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To excel in this role, you must possess, among other qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Behavioral Sciences, Disaster Risk Reduction, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in community organizing and development work.
  • Hands-on experience applying participatory methodologies, preferably involving work with children.

Skills:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong teamwork aptitude combined with a dedication to integrity, transparency, and proactive approaches.
  • Proven gender sensitivity.

Additional Information:

  • Must be based in the Philippines and a Filipino citizen.

Location: City of Manila, Metro Manila

Type of Role: Project-based (until December 2024)

Reports to: Program Specialist

This role will involve fieldwork.
