Chief Steward

Position Title: CHIEF STEWARD

Reports To: Assistant Unit Manager / Unit Manager

Position Purpose: To carry out the responsibility of supervising the stewarding department in achieving the highest standard of sanitation and cleanliness in all responsible areas. Maintain the proper use of operating equipments and inventory control

Key Result Areas:

· To ensure that stewarding team adhere to SODEXO WAY Service standards through training and role modeling

· To supervise team in proper sanitation and cleaning of operating equipments

· To schedule team working hours effectively ensuring operations run smoothly according to employment terms and conditions

· To effectively manage overtime authorization

· To control operating equipment par stock and minimize breakage

· To submit purchasing requests for all operating equipments in a timely manner and within budgetary guidelines

· To regularly conduct staff training and demonstrating the use for cleaning equipment and chemical

· To liaise closely with all outlets and maintain good working relations

· To carry out of transport supplies of chemical and equipments to all outlet

· To supervise the regular garbage removal and ensure that the highest standard of hygiene is maintained

· To ensure all documentations are properly recorded according to Sodexo standards and policies

· To carry out par stock inventory of all equipment and chemical under the responsibilities

· To ensure staff adhere to Sodexo policies and standards of security, emergency, hygiene and work place safety

· To perform any other duties assigned by management

· Assure that soiled or damaged serving utensils are not put into use, watch particularly for cracked or chipped china and glassware.

· Check maintenance of all equipment located in the areas under supervision. Make every attempt to prevent damages or losses of the property

· To play an active role in staff development by identifying training needs and conduct regular training sessions to existing and new staff according to standards, rules and regulations.

· To effectively manage performance of staff ensuring team efficiency, productivity and compliance through coaching, rewards & recognition, positive reinforcement and disciplinary process.

· To actively promote teamwork and cohesion by demonstrating behavioral and positive mindset examples at all times.

Authorities:

· To take necessary actions to ensure the safety of all customers, clients and staff within the operation

· To manage working environment in daily duties to ensure of good practice according to Sodexo Company guidelines

Key Competencies:

· A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role

· A solid understanding of Food Safety Systems

· Experience in a high pressure catering environment, preferably in a commercial, hospitality or industrial environment

· Knowledge of food service equipment caring

· Food safety and hygiene knowledge

· Understanding service needs of the operation

· Leadership and team building abilities

· Well groomed and able to represent Sodexo in a professional manner

· Customer focused

· Organized

· Self motivated

· Strong customer service skills

· Creativity and an eye for detail
