Commercial Lead (Manila) - Power Generation

We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Commercial Lead to join our dynamic team in Manila. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for formulating and executing the revenue strategy for our power plant's net sellable generation capacity.

About the Role:

  • Based in Manila, Philippines
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the power generation industry, with a strong understanding of local and global power markets.
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating high-performing teams to achieve ambitious revenue and profitability goals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing effective sales and trading strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks in the trading and sales environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Direction & Leadership:
  • Formulate strategic plans for the power plant, ensuring growth, profitability, and resource development within a framework of responsible and sustainable practices.
  • Lead the implementation and achievement of strategic goals, setting clear objectives for individual team members and the overall department.
  • Anticipate market trends and risks, developing proactive solutions and best practices to navigate challenges.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that aligns with the company's mission and values.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the power industry, including distribution utilities, cooperatives, regulators, and industry associations.
  • Oversee the optimization of resources and sales activities through effective operational strategies.
  • Recommend improvements to sales and trading policies, procedures, and processes for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior management on short, mid, and long-term revenue strategies, anticipating business implications of developments in the power sector.
  • Lead the development and implementation of near/medium/long-term market risk management strategies.
  • Sales:
  • Develop and manage an optimized pricing strategy that maximizes revenue for the power plant.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a diverse customer base, including distribution utilities, electric cooperatives, and other industry players.
  • Negotiate, review, and manage commercial contracts such as power sales agreements and ancillary service agreements.
  • Trading Brand Management:
  • Champion the internalization of the company brand within the Sales & Trading Group, ensuring alignment with broader corporate branding initiatives.
  • Review and recommend communication plans, crisis management programs, and public relations initiatives to enhance brand reputation.
  • Risk Management:
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the company's risk management program and crisis management system.
  • Performance & People Management:
  • Recommend strategic staffing needs to support the achievement of business plans and expansion programs.
  • Approve development programs to equip employees with the necessary skills and competencies to excel in their roles.
  • Sanction programs designed to boost employee morale, well-being, and engagement, fostering a high-performing team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the power generation industry, with a proven track record of success in commercial leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of the power generation sector, including power markets, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic plans.
  • Fluency in English, with Tagalog proficiency a plus.
