We want things to be amazingly simple for our customers - which in this case is our awesome staff. As part of this role, we are looking for an Engineer Manager to join our Software Engineering Team to help rapidly drive and shape business outcomes through technology.

The Software Engineering Team creates the digital customer experience and builds, operates, and maintains the platform for over one million customers of this amazing project.

As an Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with multiple disciplines including front-end, back-end, architecture, security, DevOps, and native apps.

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

• Be a member of the Engineering Management at NCS-amaysim working on Engineering Strategy and being hands-on as needed
• Look after the day-to-day line management and leadership of 25+ Engineers at NCS-amaysim Philippines

The Engineering Manager will:

• Identify high-value projects and keep engineering teams focused on these projects whilst partnering with amaysim business teams to help manage scope and technical delivery.
• Help establish and drive technical and delivery patterns, design and deliver solutions to problems, and be a strong champion of innovation and change across the business.
• Help identify bottlenecks in the process and roadblocks to success and help clear those roadblocks.
• Identify areas of technical debt, do the cost-benefit analysis for resolving the debt, and communicate suggested timelines for the prioritization of these.
• Advocate continuous learning and guide the team when it comes to career development by identifying the gaps and helping come up with individual development plans.
• Motivate engineers to speak, take part in presentations, and represent the Engineering Team both internally and externally.
• Deliver honest and candid individual feedback.
• Communicate expectations to all team members.
• Work closely with people managers to identify and resolve people-related issues.
• Represent amaysim both internally and externally and create strategic partnerships.
• Foster the continuous improvement mindset of the team

Leadership

• Manage day-to-day line management and leadership of a team of 25+ Engineers based in Manila.
• Escalate concerns that are beyond the delegation of the role to Engineering Management or Director of Engineering, whichever is applicable.
• Provide clear direction, leadership, mentorship, and support to your team of Engineers and Engineering Leaders including tech leads and people leads.
• Explore new technology, practices, and capabilities, and bring these to the table for adoption by the Engineering Team.
• Identify, grow, and foster the amaysim Philippines Engineering leadership team.
• Identify gaps and opportunities in the team, talent identification and development as well as overseeing a streamlined and efficient hiring process.

Architecture and Engineering Practice

• Stay up to date with the latest in tools, processes, technology, and trends, and assess if these can help improve the ways of working at amaysim-NCS.
• Actively review efficiency of work management tool and proactively work with all teams to implement work management tool improvements to fit into the engineering ecosystem.
• Reviews performance strategies of all teams to maintain and improve code quality standards for the entire engineering group.
• Fosters a culture of automated testing and continuous integration across the engineering teams. Leads teams in the exploration of Continuous Integration & Delivery improvements.
• Ensures that the work of the team is aligned with Cloud Engineering and DevOps practices, and consistently works with Architecture and DevOps teams to align roadmaps and strategy on scaling, deployment, and releases.
• Actively works with the security team to set and refine engineering-wide security strategy and champion security first mindset across the amaysim.

Technology Culture and Practices

• Successfully creates and facilitates activities to build and improve strong relationships across the engineering group and consistently leverage those relationships to better plan for and position the engineering teams.
• Leads and creates a shared sense of purpose and responsibility for learning and development and high performance across teams within the engineering group.
• Coaches and mentors lead and engineers across the group and foster a strong culture of listening, feedback giving, and receiving across all teams.
• Actively influences and works on cross-functional projects effectively within teams across engineering group.
• Plans, organizes, and facilitates cultural events, learning, and other engagement opportunities that builds and solidifies the amaysim culture and sense of team belonging.
• Seek out opportunities to represent and build the amaysim technology brand in the local Philippines market.

Business Partnering

• Partners with Leads and Delivery teams in refining and improving Engineering group priorities.
• Consistently communicates group priorities and works closely with teams in fulfilling priority milestones.
• Works with team members from different amaysim business teams to ensure that team and amaysim goals are met. This covers internal and external stakeholders, including amaysim and Optus senior leadership teams.
• Engages with vendors and assesses external tools and/or services if beneficial to amaysim and the team. This includes making recommendations and helping come up with decisions if acquiring new tools/services is necessary.
• Help rapidly drive and shape business outcomes through technology while supporting amaysim's strategic roadmap.
