CHIEF COMPLIANCE AND LEGAL OFFICER

Level: Executive

Reporting Line: President and CEO

Position Accountability Statement:

The Chief Compliance and Legal Officer (CCLO) at Maxicare Healthcare Corporation is entrusted with the mandate to provide strategic leadership in compliance and legal matters, ensuring adherence to laws and regulations while fostering a culture of integrity and ethical conduct across the organization. This entails overseeing the compliance and legal functions, managing regulatory requirements, and mitigating legal risks to protect the organization's interests. Our business units include the health maintenance organization, life insurance, and health services.

Broad Responsibility Highlights:

Compliance Assurance

Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify and mitigate compliance risks.

Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks that could impact the organization's operations and reputation.

Oversee legal matters, including contracts, disputes, and regulatory issues, to ensure compliance with legal requirements and protection of the organization's interests.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel to address legal issues and provide legal advice and support to the organization.

Regulatory Compliance

Monitor changes in laws and regulations that affect the organization's operations and ensure timely compliance.

Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and authorities to stay informed about regulatory developments and represent the organization in regulatory matters.

Ensure that the organization's activities, products, and services comply with regulatory requirements and standards.

Data Privacy Management

Oversee the organization's data privacy program, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations.

Develop and implement policies and procedures for data privacy, including data protection impact assessments and data breach response plans.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, legal and data privacy roles
  • Business-related degree holder
  • MBA is advantageous
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Strong process and systems orientation background
