Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with client stakeholders to develop, review, and update health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Facilitate the implementation of strategies to promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness throughout the organization.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential workplace hazards and environmental risks.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of mitigation strategies and control measures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Support the development and delivery of comprehensive safety training programs for employees, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Provide expertise in the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, and environmental spills.
  • Collaborate with client personnel to identify root causes of incidents and develop appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Stay updated on relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  • Assist the client in maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and permits, including the preparation of necessary documentation and records.
  • Support the development and maintenance of emergency response plans and procedures, including conducting drills and exercises to test their effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and assistance during emergency situations, ensuring the safety of personnel and the environment.
  • Offer expertise in environmental compliance activities, including air emissions, wastewater management, waste disposal, and pollution prevention.
  • Collaborate with the client to implement initiatives aimed at minimizing the plant's environmental footprint and promoting sustainability practices.

The Successful Applicant

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications in HSE in a manufacturing set-up.
  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in health, safety, and environmental management within a chemical processing plant or similar industrial setting.
  • Proficient knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience developing and implementing HSE management systems and programs.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
