About the Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, supporting and customizing developed systems software and firmware for customers. This role will involve operating Datacom’s technical infrastructure including corporate hardware and software as well as providing corporate systems for the Datacom Business. Your knowledge, and more importantly ability to learn and apply your skills, will lead to success in the role and for the team. We build and run numerous key systems for some great Kiwi companies and we keep their businesses running. As a result, we are passionate about getting the results that the customer needs and adding value to their business.

 

Role Responsibilities

 

The Systems Engineer is responsible for providing proactive and reactive support services to maintain the availability, reliability & security of our customers' core infrastructure, and timely action of customer service requests while maintaining accurate and timely documentation in line with ITIL standards, and as such responsibilities will include.

Undertaking assigned work.Ensure systems, server & application availabilityEnsure Back-ups and Restores meet SLAResolving Incidents within SLAImplement patches, updates, and fixes as required and approvedEnsure replications and DR functionality are maintainedProvision Service Requests within SLAAdminister resources, access, connectivity, and configurations as required.Meet Datacom and customer needs.

Provide support to customers globally, working collaboratively with colleagues.Manage own workload and provide constant proactive support and updates to colleagues and customersFollow predefined processes around the ITIL service delivery frameworkConsistently ensure all open tickets are managed and supported appropriately till closureWork to meet SLAs and escalate to your Team Lead/Manager when you are unable to meet SLAs or undertake assigned work.Contribute to the development of our servicesTo continuously develop and update your knowledge, skills & certifications, where necessary.Requirements

On the technical side, you should have plenty of experience with Windows Server Technologies. Some of the technologies we play with and you will ideally understand include:

Microsoft operating systemActive Directory, Group Policy, DNS, ADFS, DHCP, DFSVirtualisation technologies (VMware, Azure, AWS)Microsoft messaging systemsRemote Desktop ServicesAzure IaaS and Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online)Enterprise Antivirus and backup productsSystems monitoring toolsHardware and StoragePowerShell scriptingSecurityExchange support and patching

Desirable Technical Skills:

Window Server environments and desktop operating systemsVMware virtualized environment management & Maintenance PatchingAppliance supporting VMware environments and management thereof including firmware updates.SecurityBigFix

Technical Requirements 

The leg of the T (i.e. deep knowledge):

General Windows server OS (at least 2016+, but pre-2016 an advantage)Infrastructure applications like Active Directory, and supporting technologies like DNS, DHCP, DFSAzure AD (Entra ID) from an authentication perspective and integration with on-prem AD
