We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Purchasing Officer to join our team in the construction industry. In this role, you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, ensuring seamless coordination between suppliers and the project team. Your duties will include purchasing and delivering construction materials, negotiating with vendors, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring the quality and timely delivery of materials. Your efforts will contribute to the successful execution of construction projects, ultimately driving the growth and success of our organization.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Procurement and Vendor Management
    • Purchase and deliver materials to site, maintaining up-to-date contact details for all suppliers.
    • Research, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure the best terms and prices.
    • Process purchase orders, create monthly price lists for commonly used materials, and ensure alignment with project timelines.
    • Monitor inventory levels, forecast material demand, and determine purchasing needs.
    • Negotiate credit terms with suppliers and combine orders to reduce purchasing costs.
    • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key suppliers for continual improvement.
    • Recanvas and check supplier availability regularly.
    • Cost Management and Quality Assurance
      • Implement strategies to minimize procurement costs while maintaining quality standards.
      • Follow up on deliveries and purchases to ensure procured items meet required quality standards and specifications, confirming the quality and completeness of delivered materials/supplies.
      • Review and provide feedback on the quality of purchased products.
      • Conduct regular supplier assessments for compliance and performance improvement.
      • Resolve supplier performance issues and disputes effectively.
      • Inventory and Logistics Coordination
        • Coordinate with warehouse staff for proper storage and inventory management.
        • Plan for anticipated material requirements and synchronize supply with demand through communication with site supervisors and operations team.
        • Oversee transport costs and schedules, manage risks in supply chain processes, and track key functional metrics to improve effectiveness.
        • Ensure continuous supply for all products and monitor stock and availability of materials.

          Other Responsibilities

          • Perform additional tasks as required to support the purchasing department and the organization.

            Qualifications

            • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or related field.
            • Proven work experience as a purchaser, preferably in the construction industry.
            • Strong knowledge of supply chain management and procurement processes.
            • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
            • Analytical and strategic thinking skills.
            • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
            • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
            • High ethics, integrity, and reliability.
