SMT Specialist/Engineer

1.0 BASIC FUNCTION

1.1. Setup of new products in the SMT line.

1.2. Validates the product setup at SMT line.

2.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1. Coordinates with Project Managers about the needed files/documents (Gerber, BOM, Pick and Place files, etc.) for setting up a new product.

2.2. Set the SMT machine process parameters per product.

2.3. Generates machine programs for the Paste Printer, Pick and Place and Reflow Oven machines.

2.4. Conducts product qualifications, DOE and quality evaluations on SMT processes before mass production.

2.5. Orientation, training, presentation/turnover of new product setup/critical points to process owner and line workers.

2.6. Generates, maintains, improves and updates SMT machine programs.

2.7. Deals with process abnormities in the SMT line and recommends corrective actions.

2.8. Works closely with Product/Process Engineers in updating the machine setup brought by ECOs and/or SMT process improvement activity.

2.9. Spearhead the validation of new products being evaluated in the SMT line

2.10. Evaluates new components and new processes related to SMT line operation.

2.11. Monitors SMT tool usage and recommends needed replacement.

2.12. Performs defect and failure analyses for Surface Mount Technology (SMT).

2.13. Optimizes the SMT assembly process.

2.14. Develop and implement advanced processes and SMT methodologies.

2.15. Works closely with Product/Process/QC Engineers in improving the product SMT assembly process in terms of process yield and quality.

2.16. Works closely with Production Planner in improving the product SMT assembly in terms of cycle time.

2.17. Works closely with QC Engineers in generating a profiler board and achieving an acceptable reflow oven thermal profile/solder quality.

2.18. Works closely with Maintenance group and recommends improvements in machine preventive maintenance activities and schedule which includes feeders as well.

2.19. Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time e.g., updating of assembly process flows and work instructions, generation of technical drawings/layouts for needed tooling of new products.

3.0 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

3.1. Education

3.1.1. Graduate of any four (4) years Bachelor of Science courses, Engineering courses is an advantage.

3.2. Experience

3.2.1. Supervisory training/experience. Strong background in electronics is an advantage.

3.3. Training

3.3.1. ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 Awareness, SPC, FMEA, PMD Procedures and Work Instructions.

3.4. Skills

3.4.1. Knowledge in SMT Machine Operation
