MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Performs microbiological and microscopic analysis on samples collected from the water sources, treatment plants, distribution system, service reservoirs and sewerage/sanitation system, private entities and other offices as submitted and in accordance to the requirements of ISO 17025 and DAO 2016-08 

2. Resolves technical problems encountered in the examination of samples. 

3. Reports status of inventory of laboratory supplies. 

4. Participates in the Quality Assurance by applying and continually improving the Quality Control Program for the analyses/techniques in microbiology and initiating corrective action when quality control data do not meet pre-established control and warning limits

 5. Maintains and updates Analysis drafts and logbooks, Work Environment Monitoring, Equipment Monitoring Checklists and other relevant forms and records in the Microbiology lab on a regular basis. 

6. Conducts simple laboratory equipment preventive maintenance and troubleshooting when needed 

7. Performs laboratory housekeeping with adherence to safety practices and proper waste disposal. 

8. Prepares draft of regular and special reports required by the Head of Microbiology. 

9. Complies on laboratory programs pertaining to quality, environment and safety.

10. Performs duties of an on-site Safety Office

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL LICENSES Graduate of BS Microbiology Member of Philippine Society of Microbiologists (preferably certified professional by PAM)

WORK EXPERIENCE Preferably with background on laboratory Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and ISO 17025 requirements 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Proficient in MS Office High problem solving and analytical thinking skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills
